1- "Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home" Erasmus Project's LTTA Activity Successfully Conducted in Avignon, France

As part of the Erasmus KA210 project titled "Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home" (Project No: 2023-1-ES01-KA210-SCH-000158752), a Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA) was held from September 23 to 27, 2024, in Avignon, France. Hosted by Ecole Maternelle Les Moulins, the five-day event brought together three teachers from each partner institution to collaborate on innovative strategies for digital education and gender equality in classrooms.

 

​Day 1: School Visit and Digital Tools WorkshopThe program began with a visit to the host school, where participants discussed the project goals and activity schedule. In the afternoon, YIMEM’s informatics experts led a workshop on basic digital programs and Web 2.0 tools, equipping teachers with essential skills for integrating technology in classrooms.

​Day 2: Bridging the Digital Divide with GenderTech Web 2.0 ToolsOn the second day, teachers explored the "GenderTech" initiative, presenting five digital tools and strategies used to address gender equality and the digital divide in their respective institutions. Altogether, 20 Web 2.0 tools were reviewed, allowing teachers to build transferable skills and promote safe digital learning spaces for all students.

 

​Day 3: Developing Gender-Sensitive Digital GamesTo combat digital bullying and promote gender equality, participants worked on developing gender-sensitive digital games. Each partner institution created 10 games using free software, resulting in a diverse collection of 40 games by the end of the project. These games will be utilized in classrooms to engage young digital natives in safe, inclusive online environments.​

 

Day 4: Crafting Alternative Digital TalesRecognizing the impact of traditional tales on gender perceptions, teachers conducted a literature review of 12 well-known children’s stories. They then worked to create alternative digital tales free of sexist stereotypes, aimed at promoting egalitarian values among young learners.​

 

Day 5: Designing Digital Gender Equality FlashcardsThe final day focused on developing digital flashcards centered around gender equality. Each partner created flashcards on one of four themes (such as jobs and household chores), establishing a valuable resource for gender education in classrooms.​

 

All digital resources developed during the LTTA, including Web 2.0 tools, digital games, alternative tales, and flashcards, will be uploaded to a shared online platform. This digital repository will be accessible via the project’s website, offering teachers worldwide free, valuable materials for promoting gender equality and digital inclusion in early education.​

 

The "Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home" project, supported by Erasmus, has successfully fostered cross-cultural collaboration and equipped educators with digital tools and knowledge to create equitable and safe learning environments for children. 2- Erasmus KA210 Project "Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home" Concludes Productive LTTA Activity in Spain

As part of the Erasmus KA210 project "Learn Abroad to Do Better at Home" (Project No: 2023-1-ES01-KA210-SCH-000158752), a meaningful Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA) was successfully hosted from June 10-14, 2024, in Spain under the leadership of CEIP Dr. Sanchis Guarner. Bringing together three staff members, including one administrator and two teachers from each partner institution, the activity focused on advancing gender equality in early childhood education (ECE) through collaborative efforts and shared best practices.​The LTTA began with a warm welcome from the host institution, setting the tone for a week of deep reflection and active engagement. Participants explored the role of gender awareness in educational settings, sharing unique insights from their own countries. Building on this foundation, they collaboratively developed 40 inclusive lesson plans designed to teach the principles of gender equality to young learners. These lesson plans, enriched with adaptations for children with disabilities and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, will serve as valuable resources for educators worldwide.

The creation of a glossary of inclusive terms was another highlight, aimed at fostering language that reflects equality and respect. This digital resource, accessible to all, offers an alternative to traditional, often gendered expressions, encouraging the use of language that empowers young minds.​

 

Throughout the week, participants enjoyed hands-on experiences, including a workshop focused on non-gendered games in natural spaces. This activity emphasized the importance of unstructured play in nature, allowing children to explore and learn without the constraints of stereotyped roles. The observations and teacher feedback gathered during these games will contribute to future academic research, underscoring the educational impact of inclusive play.

 

​Concluding the activity, YIMEM and Eekhout led an insightful workshop that laid the groundwork for an e-booklet on gender-sensitive pedagogy. This guide, complete with case studies and readings, will support educators in building inclusive and equitable learning environments across Europe.​

 

The LTTA activity successfully united educators in a common mission to promote gender equality, equipping them with practical tools and a shared vision to implement positive changes in their home institutions.
